Compassion
"Compassion" explores the complexity of empathy and human connection. The central figure, a woman with a calm yet introspective expression, is portrayed with a surreal element—multiple eyes, symbolizing heightened awareness and a deep understanding of suffering. The fragmented text overlays, with words like "suffering," "pragmatic distance," and "existential situation," suggest a cerebral exploration of compassion as both an emotional and intellectual process. This piece is about the balance between understanding another's suffering and maintaining enough distance to not be overwhelmed by it. The layering of the imagery and text is meant to invite reflection on how we engage with compassion in our own lives—how we connect with others while also taking care of ourselves.
